WEBINAR #2 – Reducing Inequalities in Cancer Prevention through Health Literacy
This webinar addressed persistent inequalities in cancer prevention across Europe, with a particular focus on how disparities in health literacy contribute to unequal access to information, services, and preventive behaviours. The session explored socio-economic, geographic, and educational factors that influence individuals’ ability to engage with cancer-related information and prevention strategies.
Building on the CURTAIN framework, speakers discussed how tailored communication, community-based approaches, and culturally sensitive interventions can help bridge these gaps.
WEBINAR #1 – Why Cancer Literacy Matters: Empowering Citizens to Navigate Cancer Information in Europe
This introductory webinar set the scene for the CURTAIN project by exploring the concept of cancer health literacy and its critical role in cancer prevention, early detection, and patient empowerment. Participants gained a clearer understanding of how limited health literacy and widespread misinformation, particularly in digital environments, can negatively impact individuals’ ability to make informed decisions about their health.
The session presented the CURTAIN project’s vision and objectives, highlighting how it aims to strengthen citizens’ ability to access, understand, appraise, and use cancer-related information across Europe. By bringing together perspectives from public health experts, patient representatives, and project partners, the webinar emphasised the importance of trustworthy, accessible, and inclusive communication strategies.
