SHINE Brings CURTAIN Project to “Move Against Cancer” Event in Lisbon

On Saturday 9 May 2026, the CURTAIN project was promoted by SHINE 2Europe during the 3rd edition of the Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro “Move Against Cancer” (“Mexer Contra o Cancro“) initiative at the Jamor National Sports Centre in Lisbon.

Organised to raise funds for Oncology Research Grants while promoting physical activity as a cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, the event brought together science, community, and civic participation.

SHINE used its Prevention Wheel to promote inclusion and health literacy in cancer prevention and treatment, putting into practice CURTAIN’s core mission: reducing cancer-related inequalities by strengthening the ability of citizens, patients, and healthcare professionals to access, understand, and use reliable health information.

SHINE shared the stand premises with AICIB and the National School of Public Health of NOVA University Lisbon, fostering collaboration across projects that aim to bridge the gap between research and active public engagement. Together, the organisations connected with families, partners, volunteers, representatives from local authorities, and people living with cancer.

The Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro announced that the event raised enough funds to finance at least 10 research grants. Registration for these grants opens in September.
