CURTAIN project launches to beat cancer inequalities by improving cancer literacy

We are proud to announce the launch of the CURTAIN Project to beat cancer inequalities by improving health literacy in Europe.

By adopting the acronym CURTAIN (Cancer ineqUalities thRough liTerAcy IN Europe), the project highlights the persistent cancer inequalities between Eastern and Western Europe, which are visible today through the lens of the former Iron Curtain. Co-funded by the EU4Health Programme and coordinated by the Centre for Innovation in Medicine, CURTAIN brings together 15 partners from 9 countries to address cancer inequalities across Europe.

By focusing on cancer literacy – helping people access, understand, and use information for prevention, early detection, and treatment – we aim to close the gape between Eastern and Western Europe, urban and rural areas, and vulnerable communities.

The kick-off meeting took place on 9-11 September in Câmpulung and Lerești, Romania and set the stage for collaboration, engagement with local communities.

Together, we believe knowledge saves lives, and every citizen deserves equal access to it.
